PALLINA - Bamboo Sticks & Balls Game

Today I thought I would share a fantastic new game that we have at East Sale Kindergarten that was purchased with monies raised from our Firewood Raffle - many thanks to all who supported this fundraiser a little while ago!

We introduced this new game to the children today and I have to say that it really did spark some interest amongst the children AND fostered some wonderful language opportunities as well!

The game is called Pallina - it's a Bamboo Sticks & Ball Game in which the children take turns to remove their chosen coloured sticks from the Bamboo 'net' without letting their coloured balls, which are balance ontop of the sticks, fall to the bottom - it's not as easy as it sounds actually!

It is indeed a game of strategy BUT we found it wonderful to reinforce eye - hand coordination, body control - in being steady, discussion about speed - moving slowly, not to mention colour & number awareness AND fostering heaps of language & social opportunities too!

The children just loved the game and are very eager to play it again!  Actually, unbeknown to the children, we actually bought a toy bundle at the time of getting this game and have 3 other new ones that are made by the same company!  We look forward to introducing these into the program in the coming weeks and seeing how the children engage with them too!
