Strong Foundations Conference

Today, just after 7am, all the staff at East Sale Kindergarten ventured off to Warragul to attend the annual UnitingCare Gippsland - Strong Foundations In Early Childhood Education Conference.

Attending the conference, was a wonderful opportunity for our staff to network with other professionals & to hear from a wide variety of speakers on a diverse range of topics.

Our MC for the day was Libbi Gorr - ABC Radio - who brought a wonderful candour & humour to the day AND our Morning Guest Speaker was Professor Margaret Sims who spoke about her research interest focussed around quality community-based services for children & families.

Morning Concurrent Sessions were held prior to morning tea - Shirley attended Planning for Resilience with Professor Margaret Sims; Rosanna & Kim attended Music In An Inclusive Environment with Louise Dorrat & Denise attended Learning Stones Project with John Murray.

Afternoon Concurrent Sessions were held after lunch - Shirley & Kim attended Embedding Quality with Catharine Hydon; Rosanna attended Building Children's Resilience with Louise Dorrat & Denise attended Creating A Circle Of Security with Jenny Enter & Sara Janssen.

Each of the concurrent sessions provided staff with a mixture of ideas & concepts to reflect on in our daily practice as Early Childhood Educators. In fact, quite a bit of that reflection & discussion about the day took place on the journey back home! *grin*

Our Afternoon Keynote Speaker was Michael Grose who spoke most entertainingly about Parenting & Raising Kids To Thrive. I've included some information about Michael's website at the bottom of this post as I believe a number of our families might find it very useful.

Following the Panel Discussion, Evaluation & Farewell we all then made the journey back home, arriving in Sale at about 6pm. It had been a wonderful (but long) day of socialisation, networking, information & reflection AND we all look forward to introducing aspects from it all into our daily work here at East Sale Kindergarten!

FOR FAMILIES
Michael Grose has a wonderful website - Parenting Ideas - Raising Exceptional Kids  & from there you can find him on Facebook or Twitter, link through to his Blog, subscribe to his Happy Kids Newsletter (which is a fantastic parenting resource) & even link through to his shop to access a wide range of resources about raising happy & confident children - something that I'm sure each & every one of us want to do!

NEW MULCH!

A very big thank-you to all those families & extra helpers who assisted with the spreading of new Playground Mulch about our very vast outdoor area last week!

It looks absolutely amazing & the children love how spongey the bark area now feels as they run around on it!

Without everyone's valuable help, the task would have taken a great deal longer to get completed, so thank-you one and all!

Welcome to 2012!

A new Kindergarten year is about to get underway and we would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a very Happy New Year!  We are certain that 2012 is going to be an amazing year at East Sale Kindergarten!

We'll start the year by being able to show off our newly renovated bathroom & locker area!  The work that has been done since the beginning of the year has been amazing - our tired & rundown bathroom was more or less ripped out with new fixtures, flooring & lockers being installed.  It looks amazing - we can't wait to share it with you!

There's also been a lot of work taking place on the exterior of our building too - some general repairs here & there and a fresh coat of paint!  East Sale Kindergarten is certainly getting a new lease of life!

We have some fantastic ideas of things we'd like to see at East Sale Kindergarten and we look forward to discussing these with our Family Support Group over the course of this year!  Who knows what we can achieve by the end of 2012 - like we said, it's going to be an amazing year!

We look forward to sharing our revitalised Kindergarten environment with you very soon!

Welcome to Term 4!

Here we go . . . Term 4 is underway!  Can you believe it?  Here's hoping everyone enjoyed a wonderful relaxing break!  Over the holidays, Mrs Phillpotts, Mrs. Murray & Myself had a big clean-up in one of our Kindergarten storage sheds and you'd be surprised at what wonderful treasures we discovered - well - yes, there were some things that we didn't consider to be such wonderful treasures BUT we are looking forward to sharing some of the good stuff with your children over the remainder of the year!

It is our aim that through the East Sale Kindergarten Blog you'll not only be kept updated with things that are going on within our environment BUT also some of the daily learning that your child is experiencing too!

We're adding information about the Early Years Learning Framework - including the 8 Practice Principles that underpin our Early Childhood Education and also the 5 Learning Outcomes we work towards with each & every child in our care.

We hope you find this *new* format of communication interesting & beneficial and we do look forward to hearing your feedback in the coming weeks!  Please feel free to let Kim or myself know of things that may be of interest to you OR that you would like to see us feature!
