We’ve been looking at the Author – Eric
Carle, and the way in which he creates the pictures in lots of his children’s
books. He uses a collage technique of
painting backgrounds and then using the resulting paintings to create collage
images.
After reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar, we decided to make our very own Very Hungry Caterpillar using this same
technique! First, as a group, we painted
lots of background papers and then once they were dry we cut out pre-drawn
circles which we used to create our very own caterpillars!
Why not take a look at the Very Hungry Caterpillar collage on the
wall in our playroom? They’re all so
very individual & wonderfully creative too! Don't they look fantastic?
